You Time

When was the last time you took sometime for yourself? If your answer is the last time you used the bathroom, then listen up!

We all have responsibilities in our lives that tend to take priority away from ourselves. Maybe it’s our kids, a spouse, work, or school. All of these things demand our attention which leaves us to place our own needs on the back burner. It can be hard to balance all of these things AND make time for ourselves.

Think of your body as a battery. We have to recharge our battery at some point or we will feel fatigued and unmotivated. You might start to struggle with tiredness, maybe have less patience, and feel like you’re in a mental fog. These things can not only leave you exhausted but it can also put you in a bad mood for feeling so crummy in the first place! Taking time for yourself is what will help recharge your internal battery.

What you do to recharge might look different for everyone. Maybe it’s reading a book for 20 or 30 minutes. It might be going out to walk the dog. It could be as simple as having your morning coffee while reading the newspaper (do people still do that?). Maybe it’s going into the gym to get a workout in. Or it could be getting back into a hobby you’ve been neglecting.

Taking the time you need for yourself will not only help you but the people around you as well.

You will be a better parent, spouse, or co-worker. All of which can lead to a positive ripple effect in your life.

Sometimes life can get in the way. However, trying our very best to make time each and every day for ourselves will be beneficial in the long run.

Challenge yourself to take just 15 minutes to an hour everyday this week to do something just for you! Just imagine the difference that taking just a little time for yourself can make.
